Another Opportunity for Free COVID-19 Testing
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
DHEC just announced 163 new cases of COVID-19 and 5 additional deaths. This brings the total number of people confirmed to have COVID-19 in South Carolina to 8,816 and those who have died to 385.
Richland County, specifically zip codes 29223 and 29229 continue to have some of the highest positive cases in the state. In an effort to focus on those two areas, we, as local elected officials, will be hosting another 3 days of free COVID-19 testing beginning today, Monday, May 18; Wednesday, May 20; and Friday, May 22 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Richland Northeast High School located at 7500 Brookfield Road, Columbia, SC 29223. No symptoms or doctor referral is required. Curbside and walk-up testing will be provided. Please take advantage of this opportunity if you have any concerns about being infected.
Across the state there also will be 57 Mobile Testing Clinics scheduled as part of ongoing efforts to increase testing in underserved and rural communities across the state. Currently, these are scheduled through June 3 with new mobile clinics regularly added.
